In recent days, Meghan Markle has been seen at multiple events, showing her support for Prince Harry at the 2025 Invictus Games. However, despite the competition continuing until February 16, the Duchess of Sussex departed yesterday.

After returning to Montecito, California, she posted a photo on her Instagram Story, writing: “A taste of Canada and The Invictus Games for our little ones [Lilibet and Archie, the couple’s children]! Cheering you on from home.”

An insider from Invictus clarified to Hello! that Meghan’s departure was nothing out of the ordinary and had nothing to do with any behind-the-scenes drama.

“This was always planned,” the source explained. “Meghan is going home to be with her children [Lilibet and Archie, who are in Montecito, California]. Meghan left the games in Dusseldorf early after five days to go home. This is Prince Harry’s event, and she is there to support him, but this was planned.”

Just a day before her departure, Meghan was spotted alongside Harry at a family and friends tubing event in Whistler. She kept warm in a stylish Aritzia coat, a Rag & Bone sweater, white pants, and Sorel boots, completing the look with a Moncler hat and Miu Miu sunglasses.

Meghan and Harry have frequently attended events separately. Back in October, a close friend of the couple revealed to People that this was an intentional decision, as they were actively carving out their own professional paths.

“An entrepreneurial and enterprise focus is going to be more the Duchess’s priority, and the Duke will continue to champion his not-for-profit patronages,” the friend explained. “But there will be joint efforts around those cause-driven areas of work.”

According to the friend, this shift is also influenced by their responsibilities as parents, ensuring that one of them is always home with the children.

At the Invictus Games’ welcome reception, Meghan introduced Harry and shared a small glimpse into their life as parents.

“I was not planning on speaking tonight, and we just arrived, I don’t know, a couple of hours ago, and I touched Canadian soil and I went, oh, it feels like home,” she began. “We are just thrilled to be here, and I would be remiss if I didn’t take the opportunity to introduce someone who means a lot to me. And I know he means quite a lot to all of you. You will see him throughout this week.”

The Duchess opened up about how the Invictus Games have influenced Harry’s interactions with their children, sharing a sweet family moment.

“What you won’t have seen is all of the moments that have happened in the lead-up to these Games, all of the moments where, as you know, with families, the big rush in the morning—getting ready for school, packing the lunch boxes, making breakfast. My husband’s in all of that with us, and then he’ll be on his phone, and Archie will say: ‘Papa, why are you on your phone?’ And he’s like, ‘That’s Invictus. I’m getting ready for Invictus.’”
